What you will learn from the webcast​

In this webcast, we will discuss the importance of courageous responsibilities in being an active ally and how inclusive communication can foster a sense of belonging in the workplace and empower individuals to speak up and take action in the face of injustice and inequality. 

We will also discuss the role of inclusive communication in creating a culture of courage and responsibility, and how it can contribute to creating a more just and equitable workplace. 

We will talk about examples and ways you can be more inclusive towards others, being aware of your own biases, conversations to avoid and tough issues to address in the workplace.

The webcast will be led by Dr. Poornima Luthra, Associate Professor at Copenhagen Business School and Jenifer Clausell Tormos, Founder and CEO at Develop Diverse. 

There will also be opportunities for Q&A at the end of the webcast. This webcast is suitable for individuals, educators, leaders, managers, and professionals who want to learn more about inclusive communication and how it can empower individuals to take courageous responsibilities.

Courageous responsibilities refers to the idea that individuals have a moral and ethical duty to act courageously and take responsibility for their actions, even when faced with difficult or challenging circumstances. By taking courageous responsibilities, individuals can make a positive impact on themselves and the people around them.

Dr. Poornima Luthra

Dr. Poornima Luthra (She/Her), Author of The Art of Active Allyship, Associate Professor at Copenhagen Business School

Poornima is Associate Professor at the Copenhagen Business School, and defines herself as a practioner-academic being able to effectively merge academic rigor with practical application. She draws on eighteen years of research and teaching experience and expertise in the field of talent management and DEI in Asia and Europe when engaging with companies and institutions in both the private and public sector. 

Poornima is the author of ‘Diversifying Diversity: Your guide to Being an Active Ally of Inclusion in the Workplace’ and ‘The Art of Active Allyship’. She is also the author of the HBR articles ‘Do your global teams see DEI as an American issue?’ and ‘7 ways to practice active allyship’, and a TEDx speaker. Poornima is also the recipient of the Professional Women of Colour Denmark 2021 Impact award, and a finalist in the Trailblazer category of the 2022 Nordic Blaze Inclusion Awards. She is currently writing her third book in this field, Leading through Bias.

Jenifer Clausell Tormos (She/Her), Founder & CEO of Develop Diverse

Jenifer is the Founder and CEO of Develop Diverse, a company that strives to help companies build diverse and inclusive workplaces. She ensures that companies attract diverse talent and lay the foundation for a culture of inclusion and belonging. Her writing software supports biased-free writing by recognising biased words and proposing inclusive alternatives.

She gives talks and workshops both inspirational and scientific-based about the unconscious bias present at the workplace, which is within recruitment, CV selection, interviewing and promotions. "We have both self-bias and bias towards the people that surround us, and understanding its origin and where it is, it’s the first step towards eliminating it."
